Pinkies Up for These Houston Tea Shops

A hot cup of tea can be so comforting. Sometimes, you just want to sit down and savor the flavors and aromas instead of sipping on-the-go. If you’re in the mood for some tea and maybe a bite or two, you might just fall in love with one of these local Houston tea shops.

McHugh Tearoom and Gifts: Located in Bellaire, this tearoom is quite the delight. They offer a proper high tea service with finger sandwhiches and scones, plus they have wine and other boozy options. Offering breakfast, brunch, and lunch, this spot is quite popular, and even my husband enjoys coming here! I’ve even attended a bridal shower at this tearoom and it was truly lovely. They’re not joking about gifts either with plenty of loose-leaf tea, kettles, cups, pots, and other tea accoutrements available. Visit McHugh Tearoom and Gifts when you’re in the neighborhood.

The Path of Tea: If you’re in the area of 2340 West Alabama Street, you might want to take a peek at this long-standing store. The Path of Tea sells tea pots and accessories and dozens of unique kinds of loose-leaf tea. Attend a traditional Chinese Gongfu Tea Service, or participate in a weekly group tea tasting. The ambience here is relaxed and soothing, and you’ll often find local students studying. One of my favorite things about The Path of Tea is the assortment of teacups on the wall that they allow you to choose from!

The Tea Kettle Cafe: You will love the English charm of The Tea Kettle Cafe and the adorable Old Town Spring where it is located. This teahouse is situated in a historic house on a bustling market street, and really offers a vintage Victorian vibe. Visit the neighborhood, shop the market for antiques, Christmas gifts and decor, arts and crafts, chocolates, and more. When your feet grow weary, pop in for a relaxing pot of tea and delicious scones. I was the lucky guest of honor for a bridal tea and I have to say, they really are the bees knees! Chiavari chairs surrounded the beautifully arranged tables, and the cup and saucer chandelier caught everyone’s attention. They provided full tea service with finger sandwiches, scones, petit fours, macarons, and Madeleines, plus two different teas for the guests to enjoy!
