2021 Holiday Lights in Houston

Looking forward to celebrating the winter season with a lightshow, walk through gently falling snow, or a cup of hot cocoa? These local family-friendly events will leave you feeling the holiday spirit! Check out our favorite places to find holiday lights in Houston this 2021.

Lightscape at Houston Botanic Garden: Stroll through the Houston Botanic Garden’s winding paths to enjoy magical light displays including thousands of twinkling lights, installations created by local and international artists, and Lightscape favorites from around the world. The event runs on select dates through Sunday, January 2nd. Ticket prices for adults range from $21 to $25 dependent upon membership, and prices for children range from $14 – $18. Parking is not included in the price of a ticket, so be sure to reserve parking when you purchase your admission!

Zoo Lights at the Houston Zoo: This event is all about the sights and sounds of the holiday season. While guests won’t be able to see the animals, you can definitely expect some adorable animal-themed displays. TXU Energy has presented Zoo Lights for several years, and it’s always a wonderful time. This year, visitors can check out the Holiday Grove, an exhibit of animal-themed lanterns, hundreds of glowing flowers, and oak trees wrapped in warm lights. Visitors will also be wowed by the Great Ape Gallery’s transformation into an illuminated underwater adventure.

The event also features so much more, including photos with Santa, a 125-foot-long tunnel of light, a winter wonderland, snow, and a 33-foot-tall color-changing holiday tree. Purchase tickets through January 9th.

River Oaks: Drive through River Oaks this holiday season to catch a glimpse of the gorgeous mansions and towering oaks wrapped in lights. The best part about this display? It’s free! Start at River Oaks Country Club and follow the holiday map posted on Facebook. The neighborhood has been hosting this event since 2010, and it is far from ordinary. Several mansions feature displays worth upwards of $100,000, and there are more lights on some homes than are in all of Rockefeller Center!

Lights in the Heights®: Another great neighborhood light display, Lights in the Heights® will occur in Woodland Heights on Saturday, December 11th from 6 – 9 PM. Enjoy the wonderfully decorated homes on Byrne Street and Euclid Street. Consider taking a bike to avoid traffic and to give you the most time to appreciate the lights!

Winter Wanderland on Bagby Street: Stroll along the avenue to check out Bagby Street’s gorgeous constellation tunnels, angel wings, light-wrapped trees, and other twinkling displays. The holiday decorations will remain on from sundown until the early hours of the morning through January 2nd, and there is no admission! Just bring a sweater, your curiosity, and maybe a mug of steamy hot chocolate. While you’re in Downtown, you might want to check out Texas’ largest mistletoe ball at Market Square Park too!
