Unique Yoga Spots in Houston

If you’re in need of a good stretch and are looking for a unique program (but are not quite ready to dip into goat yoga), I’ve got some awesome spots in Houston to tell you about. From hot yoga to aerial yoga, we have some unique yoga spots in Houston. Read on to learn more!

DEFINE Body and Mind
DEFINE Body and Mind offers barre, cycle, and yoga classes, which sounds pretty routine at first – that is, until you learn that some of their workouts include trampolines! It’s a heck of a workout and a lot of fun! According to their website, trampolines are actually 20% more cardio-effective than treadmills and are great for people with issues in their knees. I’m sure you’re wondering what this has to do with yoga. Their yoga is actually a blend of Vinyasa flow and aerial yoga to really decompress the spine. I can honestly say that I haven’t had such a relaxing yoga experience anywhere else.

Goth Yoga
Although Goth Yoga is primarily known for selling its rockin’ yoga attire, the boutique does host popular alternative yoga classes. Owner Christi Workman, who has an interest in the macabre, took to traditional Indian Hatha yoga and saw an irresistible combination between the two. It’s a cool twist on modern yoga and has helped bring locals interested in fitness and goth culture together.  You can find more information about Goth Yoga’s pop-up sales and sessions on Facebook or check out their clothing and jewelry items for sale on their website.

Black Swan
Some like it hot. If you’re one of them, you can look forward to a 90-degree heated yoga studio at donation-based Black Swan in Houston. As a community-driven yoga studio that believes yoga should be available to everyone, the studio asks for a simple donation of $10 – $20 per class. For those who can’t make it to their studio, Black Swan even has an online membership option perfect for those who want to do yoga but want to avoid traffic just a little bit more.

Republic Aerial Yoga
This is yoga like you’ve never experienced it: in the air! But don’t worry – classes are beginner-centric and instructors offer ground-based options for those who aren’t quite ready to take to the air. Aerial yoga, which uses hammocks to strengthen the upper body, is a fantastic alternative for those who find traditional yoga a tad vanilla but still want to reap the mind-body benefits of practicing yoga. Learn more about Republic Aerial Yoga by visiting their website.
