History: The first homes in this community were built in the early 1950s. Many have since been replaced with larger, up-to-date homes. The neighborhood is named after the Highland Village Shopping Center, which was built in the 1940s by S.N. Adams.

Shopping: With shopping available in nearby Uptown and River Oaks, as well as in Highland Village itself, this is a very popular neighborhood to live in for those who enjoy shopping. The Highland Village Shopping Center alone boasts dozens of stores whose wares range from clothing to furniture and everything in between.

Community: This is a very small community, and as a result of that, housing may be difficult to find here. The neighborhood’s civic club consists of 85 single-family homes with beautiful properties that feature timeless qualities like mature trees and contemporary modern architecture. However, these are not the only homes that the neighborhood has to offer.

Culture: People from all over Houston and beyond visit to enjoy shopping in this wonderful community. In fact, the Shopping Center is known for its annual holiday lighting, which attracts observers from all over the city. They also feature decorative displays in the spring, fall, and for the Fourth of July.
