The Prohibition Theater is playing The Masque of the Red Death, a thrilling burlesque show that centers around the glutinous Prince Prospero and his friends, who are all hiding out and partying at his castle retreat while the world succumbs to the Red Plague. Can the evil Prince Prospero and his pals cheat death? Find out for yourself!

 

  1. Spirits & Skeletons at the Houston Museum of Natural Science
    Werewolves, witches, and goblins are invited to join the Houston Museum of Natural Science on October 26 for a Halloween party. Dress up and enjoy live DJs, food trucks, and live music at this 21+ event.

 

  1. RenFest

If the Renaissance period is more your style, the 45th Annual Texas Renaissance Festival is sure to tickle your fancy. On 55 acres of land, it’s the nation’s largest Renaissance festival – so you may want to dedicate a couple trips so you can enjoy it all. Since the event is ongoing on weekends through December 1st, you can enjoy roleplaying long after Halloween!

 

  1. Heights Zombie Walk

Indulge in this Houston favorite while you have the chance! This year, it’s taking place on Saturday, October 19 and benefits the Too Ghoul for School Education fund. Take part in the special FX blood spatter zone, visit beer tents supporting groups like Pup Squad Animal Rescue, and enjoy live music on Bud Light stage. There will be plenty of great food and art, and the event is free to children under age 11 who attend with a ticketed adult. Tickets are $10 each. It’s a great night for the whole family!

 

  1. The Montrose Crawl

Join in on the 13th annual Montrose Crawl on Saturday, October 26. Grab your costume and “come as you aren’t” to the ten participating restaurants between the Dunlavy and Montrose on Westheimer. With no covers and no tickets, costume contests galore, and DJs spinning at each location, this themed pub crawl is sure to be a blast. Since a portion of drink sales will benefit the Houston Area Women’s Center, you can feel great about having a bloody good time.
